2020, OUR YEAR OF A NEW SONG
He has put a new song in my mouth—
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear,
And will trust in the Lord
BIBLE READING: PSALM 40:3; PSALM 126:2-3
A happy new year and welcome to “Our Year of A New Song” as declared by Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, the Senior Pastor of my church, The Fountain Of Life Church, through the Holy Spirit. I am so excited, thankful and blessed that God kept me alive to see the beginning of another decade and I look forward to all God has in store for me this year.
I have come to realise that how you end one chapter in life determines how the next one begins and as you know, The Lord loves a grateful heart and giving thanks really pleases Him. I am sure you remember His reaction to the one leper who came back to say thank You to Him (Luke 17); gratitude brings miracles and so this year let it be a habit to give Him thanks at the end of each day.
In Revelation 22:13, Jesus Christ says “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last”, we ended 2019 with Him and as He is the Alpha, we are starting 2020 with Him and look at the wonderful promise He has given us through my Pastor for the year. Psalm 40:3 says “He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what He has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord” (NLT). Pastor Taiwo Odukoya announced this on the 1st of January 2020.
I started my New Year confessing God’s promise for me because He is the Alpha, the Beginning, the First, how did you start yours? No matter how you started, make up your mind to start each day with Him and end it with Him. At The Fountain of Life Church we pray online into the new day (11:45 pm-12:15 am) Monday to Friday so He is always the Alpha and Omega of every day and the few occasions when I fall asleep before 11:45 pm, I say my prayers before I sleep and the first thing I do when I wake up the next day is to have Jesus Christ on my lips. It has become part of me and my day never ends without Him and a new day never starts without Him.
In 2020, start your day and end your day with God, He is the only One who can go everywhere you go with you and He has promised to be with us wherever we go. He says he will never leave or forsake us, so acknowledge His presence every morning as you wake up to a new day and like that one leper thank Him at the end of every day for being with you everywhere you went that day. The more thankful you are, the closer your walk will be with Him.
May God grant us all the grace to make Him the Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End, First and last of every day of our lives in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ AMEN
