An Open Door

I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept my word, and have not denied my name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie-indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. Revelations 3:8-9

In 2005, Nigerian-American doctor, Bennet Omalu, made an astounding discovery in medical science; one that unravelled a complicated traumatic affliction in the brain. A young, eager and idealistic professional, he immediately published a paper detailing his findings on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a disease peculiar to athletes and people who had suffered head concussions at a point in their lives. However, instead of the enthusiasm and acceptance he expected, Dr Omalu was heavily opposed by officials of the NFL who viewed his discovery as a threat to their ambitions. Twice, they connived to discredit him and refused to publicly acknowledge his findings. It was not until 2012, after several more researches and papers personally funded, that the NFL began to concede with some of the findings. Today, Dr Omalu is renowned in neuroscience for his ground-breaking discovery and all the opposition he faced has given way to the truth of his findings.

The story of Bennet Omalu buttresses our opening scripture: God opens doors and causes breakthroughs. I perceive the year 2017 will be filled with great possibilities. Supernaturally, doors of opportunities, as well as the miraculous, will be opened to individuals, organisations, and even to us as a nation. However, as with every move of God, the onus lies on us to position ourselves appropriately. Remember, it is the expectant mind that seizes opportunity.

I am reminded of the famine recorded in 2 Kings 3. The Israelites were besieged by the Syrian army, and hunger and scarcity plagued the land. Then God brought a word of restoration through the prophet Elisha. However, things looked so bleak in the natural, so much so that an officer of the king said outrightly it would not happen. In response, Elisha told him that it would happen as God had said, and that he would see it but not partake of it. Indeed, it happened: Four lepers who were fed up with their situation risked their lives by walking to the Syrian camp in search of food. As they trudged along, God so much amplified their steps that the Syrian soldiers, thinking a troop was approaching, quickly fled their camp, leaving their horses and supplies. The result was that the lepers did not only find food in abundance, they took back the news of their discovery. The same situation that started off seeming bleak and defeating suddenly turned around for good.

So, get ready for an open door which no one can shut, an unleashing of supernatural wisdom for innovation and witty inventions. Expect unusual opportunities and breakthroughs. God is bringing longstanding victories your way. Impossibilities will crumble and the reproach of the former years will fade away. Those who thought they had predicted everything about you will be surprised. The failure of generations will be turned around. Your horn is exalted like a wild ox, and you are anointed with fresh oil for the exploits of 2017 (Psalm 92:10). God will make your feet like hinds’ feet and cause you to stand in your high places (Psalm 18:33). No one will be able to stand against you. Your life will be a blessing to many and a source of glory to God, in Jesus name.

Welcome to 2017, our year of Open Doors!
