The God of the Miraculous!

Then the Lord said: “I am making a covenant with you. Before all your people I will do wonders never before done in any nation in all the world. The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the Lord, will do for you. Exodus 34:10 NIV

In October 1987, 18-month- old baby Jessica McClure fell through the 8-inch wide opening of an abandoned well while left to play with other children in her aunt’s backyard. After dropping about 22 feet into the well, she became stuck. For close to 36 hours, her family searched for her, working with law enforcement agents and journalists. Eventually, a rescue search party found the small opening in the backyard through which she fell. For the next 18 hours, mining experts and local volunteers worked together to drill a shaft parallel to the one in which the baby was stuck.

The whole of America, including President Ronald Reagan, watched in wonder as major media houses reported the rescue efforts live. The main source of spectacle however was that the 18-month- old baby had been trapped in the well for nearly three days, without food or water, and had simply hummed softly during the experience. Talk about an astonishing event!

In a world saturated with scientific evolutions and technological breakthroughs, it is increasingly necessary-even urgent-to bear in mind that God still performs miracles. The miraculous is not a far-off concept stashed away in biblical history. It is a very present Christian reality. The same word of God that created the universe is still effective in our post-modern, millennial era. Let this understanding frame your approach to life and faith. By the Word, God became incarnate. By the Word, water turned to wine. By the Word, Lazarus came marching out of the tomb; blind eyes were opened and hungry mouths were fed. By the Word, Jesus conquered death for all of humanity.Today, that Word has come to us as an assurance of what God is set to do.

In our opening scripture, we find God speaking emphatically to His covenant children. He promises to do wonders such as have never been seen before. In other words, it will be beyond what is logical and conventional. It will beat science, silence medical reports and contravene human philosophy. The world will see the hand of God upon you and be marvelled into silence. This can be nothing short of a miracle.

This is not to say there is everything wrong with the natural. God ordained and sustains the conventional. He often hides Himself in the simple, predictable patterns of life. However, He is still the God of the miraculous. He is the God of wonders. And this season, more than ever, God is set to reveal His supernatural nature to you.

So, position yourself in the place of faith. Anticipate the move of God in a way you have never experienced. Miracles still happen, and they will happen for you. Like baby Jessica, the world will marvel at what God will do through and for you. His power will infiltrate your relationships, career/business, health and finances. It will affect even your nation. It will stir up creativity and innovation. It will deliver you from the snare of the enemy. It will preserve you and favour you. You will surely testify, in Jesus name. Amen.
