The Walls Are Coming Down!

“I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie – indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.” Revelations 3:8-9

Few battles have been as defining for the children of Israel as the conquest of Jericho. After spending decades in the wilderness, the Israelites found themselves at the threshold of a new beginning-set to conquer a land God Himself had promised them. The only problem was, the city was fortified roundabout and the inhabitants were renowned for their military prowess. And so momentarily, the children of Israel appeared to be stuck on the other side of a divine mandate.

In the face of that glaring opposition, we are told that the Israelites were instructed to march around the city for six days, and on the seventh day, march around it seven times and give a loud shout at the blast of the trumpets. This seemed like the most unlikely battle strategy to invade a land; yet, in obedience to divine instruction, this was what they did. Consequently, the same walls that kept the children of Israel shut out came tumbling down in a pile of debris. Talk about a sweeping victory!

However, we must keep in mind that the victory of that day had a long historical antecedent. It began with a covenant God made with Abraham-a promise to give him and his descendants the land, in which they were strangers, as an everlasting possession. There was nothing about their intelligence, skills or competence that warranted this kind of promise. God simply decided it to be so. He chose Abraham and, through Him, established for Himself a family on earth. In a sense, this reflects God’s pattern of dealing with us even today. He declares the end from the beginning. He gives us precious promises on account of what He has already concluded.

Early this year, God gave us a clear word in Revelations 3:7-8. He told us emphatically that He has opened the doors, despite our frailties and limitations. As we go through December, God is echoing these words again. He is reminding us that He has given us the land, along with its kings and giants. The question is: are you ready to take possession? The truth is, every plan God has for you and I have already been provided and perfected in Christ. Nothing can stop it. Nothing can change it. But like the children of Israel, we must be positioned to take delivery of what has already been promised. We must be positioned to access our open doors. And one way to do this is to declare what God has done, and rejoice over it in praise. Faith demands you celebrate in advance.

Like the children of Israel, why don’t you respond to your situation with praise? Choose to celebrate what God has done. Heaven always responds to the sound of joy. So rejoice, knowing that God will do what He says He will do. Jesus has opened the doors. No wall or barrier will hinder you any longer. This month, you are taking back your health, your peace, your favour. Every lost ground will be repossessed. The Lord will crown the year with His abundance. You will finish well, in Jesus name.
